Happy 43th Birthday, Singapore!August 9th, 2008 @ 2:41:04 am
WARNING: Long entry ahead. If you don’t want to read all of it, I’ve separated them into sections. Pick your favourite. :)
Singapore’s National Day
As you can tell from the title of the post, it’s Singapore’s birthday once again. :) Man, how time flies. This year is different though, my family finally won tickets to see the National Day Parade. :D Okay, I’m not overly patriotic, but hey, it’s nice to see it live on the actual day. My parents are well excited, haha. It’s cute. :)
Edit (10 Aug 08): The Parade was awesome! I really loved the fireworks. <3
Current Jobs
It’s great to be able to get a breather from all this work related stress lately. My freelancing web design job at the bar could be going better, but I’ve been stressing out over stuff that I should be doing by a certain deadline, and stuff that I’ve been asked to do, even though it’s not my job to. :/ So naturally I wasn’t too happy about it. Boss says everything will be sorted out on Monday, and to not worry. So this weekend, I’m just going to relax! As for my part time job, it’s going pretty alright. I quite enjoy talking to my colleague while we’re free. They’re rather nice people. :)
Jobs - The Waiting
I’m sure most of us know the feeling of waiting for replies from companies that you’ve sent your resumes to, hoping they’d get back to you asap. Right after I graduated from art college, I didn’t look for a job. I wanted to relax at home, and just not do anything for a while. I guess I needed to find myself, and figure out who I really am, and what I want to do as a career and for the rest of my life.
However, mother got to nagging and shit. SO, I applied all over and stuff, and do what everyone does, wait. And I wait, and I wait… yet no replies. That’s fine, I assume they already have the position filled and applied to more jobs! This is where trouble starts… A week later, every one starts calling back, requesting an interview. I decided to keep my options open and just go to all the interviews. That’s good, right? Yes.
That’s when in the mist of it all, my friend asked if I want to do web designing, as mentioned in the last post. At this point in time, I’m juggling two jobs. Never thought that’d happen, but I am! One of the people at the bar was impressed with the way I handled and got things done, and wondered how much I was looking for if they wanted to hire me, so I told him and he said he’d see what he could do, and in the mean time, to not look for anymore jobs and such.
Jobs Dilemma - Oh Shit, Oh Shit!
This is where the trouble escalates, I went to an interview earlier this week for a job that teaches young kids aged 3 months to 5 years old. They called back today, asking if I was still interested in the job. Since I haven’t gotten a full time job yet, I said yes, while keeping in mind what I’d been told before about not looking for more jobs. They wanted me to go in on Wednesday as a part timer, before the second interview, and after that, I could sign the contract.
Now, I’m all caught up, having dug my own grave here. By this Wednesday, I’d be juggling three jobs. Good going, Marsh. Good going…
Thank You! <3
…if you read all the way down, thank you so much. I know how annoying it is to arrive at a blog with a super long entry, haha. I really do appreciate it though. :)
