I finally made a new layout. I’d been procrastinating for months, and using other people’s layouts. I prefer using my own, y’know. Then again, the layout isn’t exactly done yet. Still a little more touch ups to go.
Anyhow, thanks everyone for the kind encouragements regarding my last post. :) I’m still trying to figure out what I really want in life. My long term goal is ultimately to move to the UK with my best friend, Reyna. However, before I do that, I need to get enough money. If I were to go for a degree, that would mean I’d take even longer to get enough money. Even so, I have no idea what sort of a degree I’d go for.
I’d love to go for a Creative Writing degree, but not only are there none here (only in English or English Literature), I read that it might not be right for everyone. I mean, not everyone gets published right after they graduate so that might be tough trying to get a steady income.
Gosh, so many things to think about, and not to mention, the economy is not doing as well in recent times. Sigh sigh, what am I to do?
Hi, I'm Marsha. Basically, I love God, Anberlin, music, gigs & concerts, food, the English language, design & coffee. ...yeah, just a boring geeky girl. :3

yay new layout, that guy you featured is really cute. i like his guitar hair lol.
well, my philosophy is live for today, forget about tomorrow! haha no not really but, seems like you’re really confused about the future. just do what you think will make you happy i guess.

One surefire way to move to the UK and get a degree is to go to school there.
I want to move to Japan so I can be close to my grandmother. I’ve decided to major in English/linguistics so I can teach at a University.
Good luck wherever life takes you.
I like your layout. That’s Tom from McFly right?
You want to move to the UK? How weird … I wanna move out of the UK, haha! I agree with Shoko, it’s a good idea to do your degree over here if that’s the path you wanna take.
@Helen-Marie: Indeed, it is Tom Fletcher. :D
That’s true, but that means I’d have to work first to get the money, and a lot too. It’s so expensive! I doubt I’d be able to save enough so soon. xD
Sometimes you just don’t have any creativity and it makes you so lazy to make a new layout:P
Very nice layout. :D
Hmm, seems a tough decision. Think about it before deciding though, you don’t want to regret your decisions later. :)
hope that you can move :) and sorry about the fact that the major you want isnt for everyone :/

Ha, when I read the title of your post, I thought you meant TomTom the GPS unit.
I’d say if you were to go for Creative Writing, you should have a backup. It’s very hard to make it as an author.
I see you birthday was October 5th. Happy late birthday! Mine was October 3rd :)

Why oh why do you want to live in the UK? Well, you haven’t specified which country so I can only speak for England, as I haven’t lived in any of the others.
DON’T! Everything is stupidly expensive (I’m not kidding). No matter how much you love rain, you will still want to see some good ol’ sun now and then – you won’t find it here! We haven’t had a summer in 2 years now. :/
The culture isn’t all that nice. Of course somewhat dependent on whereabouts you go, but most people are very ‘closed’, cold and distant. Don’t expect help/open friendliness from strangers on the street.
If I go on any longer I will be probably be disowned by any other English person that reads this. But honestly, it’s not an amazing place to live at all.
Regarding degree wise, I think there are proven statistics that say most published writers/successful writers never did a course towards creative writing, degree or not. I think it’s one of those things you can either do (well), or not. If you can then just get on and do it (writing a book that is)!
Yes there is an element of learning different writing techniques etc, but really a lot of writing skill comes down to the author. :-)
Course, I could be totally wrong!

I know what you mean. I prefer having my own layout up, but sometimes I get too lazy to do anything. Hope you get the kinks in your layout fixed soon. :)
Decisions that affect your future aren’t very easy to make, so I’m sure a lot of people understand and can sympathize with you. You don’t have to hurry yourself; there are a lot of chances to be taken, and some of them may not be the best for you. You just have to focus on what you really want. Of course, I shouldn’t be talking. I don’t know what I want to do with my life as well. :D
IMO, if it’s money you’re after, make the most practical choice, and that’s not Creative Writing. However, if you’re passionate enough and care little (well, not little little, if you know what I mean; just that it’s of a lesser importance) about money, then go ahead and get that CW degree…if you’re after the degree. Find a way to compromise your own wants and needs. Truth be told, I went to college without even knowing what I really wanted to do. I took up Journalism because writing is a passion, even if journalists were being killed almost everyday, and there’s very little money in it. I hated it. Took up a CW course, loved it, but hated the prof with a passion. In the end, it turned out I was a bit more passionate in social sciences than the actual technicalities of writing. I realized that I wanted to be able to write freely, not make writing my life.
On the one hand, I know a lot of CW graduates who didn’t make use of their degree for good. They’re in different, unrelated fields now. On the other hand, some of the most creative writers I know didn’t even take up CW. It’s your call, really. :)

Congrats with your new layout! I also prefer to use my own. Sometimes I get a little creative block and look at premade layouts, but then I always find something ‘missing’ – so I return to Photoshop and try to create a new layout again. Goodluck with tweaking yours to make it perfect!
